Disaster Preparedness
We are all vulnerable to potential hazards that could cause major or catastrophic destruction including hurricanes, tornados, floods, earthquakes, wildfires, ice storms and terrorist activities. The C•A•R•E Memory Wristband is a recognized electronic device which can assist collaborative regional response planning among first responders and constituents. The wristband helps hospitals, health centers, health care providers and emergency medical personnel with a surge in patient load, integration of efforts throughout the public, including children, the disabled, those with special needs and the elderly.
Why the C•A•R•E Memory Wristband should be considered:
Correct Prescriptions - Many evacuees have prescribed medications, but lack accurate medical records; this makes it very difficult for District staff to prescribe medications at the correct dosages. It is also difficult to direct the correct prescription to the correct evacuee, since many are often reassigned to new shelters. Most evacuees also lack immunization records when they arrive at their shelter. The C•A•R•E Memory Wristband would provide this important documentation.
Reduces Duplication of Test
Overlapping Responsibilities - In many cases, multiple agencies and organizations have overlapping responsibilities in the treatment of and care of special needs evacuees.
Disabled/Special Needs/Aged - Many evacuees are disabled or have special needs, thus requiring special treatment. Many evacuees are in poor health, both because of the condition from which they evacuated and long-term health problems.
Human Services - The C•A•R•E Memory Wristband is appropriate for all emergency responders, emergency management personnel, other local officials and volunteer groups who assist during emergencies, such as the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Texas Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief, RACES/ARES and SAVOAD
Providing Public Health real-time data - The C•A•R•E Memory Wristband provides an illness report, such as managing the pediatric Immunizations and helping in prevention. |
